"What a wonderful birthday party we had at the Chula Vista VFW
with the Downbeat Big Band! They are such a great band and so
much fun to dance to. The dance floor was great and the cover
charge is only $5! They played a variety of tunes from the 30’s, 40’s
and 50’s and seemed to really know what swing dancers like. Their
vocalist sang old favorites that really set the mood. Many of the
Swing Cats were charmed and will certainly be looking for any venue
where the Downbeat Big Band is playing."

Dr. Lew Albright's comments after our performance at The
Hyatt Classic Residence in La Jolla: "My own feeling, as an
old sideman, is that the Downbeat Big Band does what it does
supremely well, i.e., play swing music from the 1930's, 40's and
50's in a very professional manner--good intonation, tight
section work, and excellent musicianship. Everyone that I
came across was also very favorably impressed by the singing
of Kelly O'Dell. The swing dancers in the audience were
obviously very happy with the entire occasion."
